Founded in 1912, Fortis has been producing a variety of timepieces from some of the first mass-produced automatic wristwatches to fliegers and most notably “space” watches. As the official supplier for the Russian Federal Space Agency since 1994 with it’s Cosmonauts series, Fortis has a long history of air and space travel.

The Official Cosmonauts Day-Date is a dressed-down version of the chronograph used by ROSKOSMOS, the Russian Space Agency. Latest in a range that has been engineered for over 25 years, the Day-Date features a 200m water resistant 44mm steel case with a unidirectional elapsed time bezel and anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal. The matte black dial displays hours from one to twenty-four, the minutes in increments of five and the day and date at three o’clock. Pencils hands with a lollipop seconds complete the look of this space tool watch.

Inside the Official Cosmonauts Day-Date is the UW-31 automatic movement, based on the ETA 2836. This Swiss made movement features 26-jewels, a frequency of 28,800 bph, and 42 hour power reserve. Much like the brand, this movement is sure to be a reliable companion whether traveling through land, air, or space.

About Fortis

Founded by Walter Vogt in 1912, Fortis has been a trailblazer in the watch industry ever since. From the first ever mass-produced automatic wristwatch - the Harwood - presented in 1926 to some of the world’s first “waterproof” watches with the Fortissimo of 1940, this brand has helped to shape the landscape of the modern watch industry. Though not amongst the list of firsts for Fortis, it’s also one of only a handful of brands that can truly be said to be “space worthy” as the official watch of Russian Cosmonauts. Much like it’s founder, the brand’s current design ethos is as innovative and bold as ever. For sea, land, air and space Fortis has you covered.
