The third Oris made in collaboration with the Carl Brashear Foundation, this new Divers Sixty-Five is the first to feature the Caliber 401. Part of Oris’ Change for the Better initiative, since 2015 they have worked with the Carl Brashear foundation to bring awareness to their cause as well as raise funds which go to aid veterans and people in need. Limited to just 2,000 pieces, this is a very special watch with a wonderful story.
Fashioned of solid bronze, this 40mm Divers Sixty-Five closely resembles the first, and highly coveted, Carl Brashear Limited Edition from 2016. The signature bronze bezel with dive-markings in relief, gently rounded markers, and deepest of deep blue dials all remain the same. What clearly sets the two apart is the addition of a sub-seconds dial at the six position, a first for any Divers Sixty-Five. With simple hash-marks at cardinal positions, and text gently curving above the dial, it adds the distinct feel of naval instruments. In the center of the sub-dial you’ll find “5 Days” nodding to the power reserve of the impressive in-house movement within.
The Caliber 401 powering the new Oris Carl Brashear Limited Edition is the second iteration of their new movement platform, now featuring a sub-seconds dial and no date. This automatic caliber boasts a 120-hour/5-day power reserve, and has been regulated to within -3/+5 seconds a day. By removing many ferrous components, Oris was able to achieve high magnetic resistance. Thanks to a design that put efficiency and longevity at the forefront, Oris warranties the movement for 10 years, and recommends a 10-year service interval.
